RBZ permits Western Union & other Money Transer Agencies to start operating during the lockdown

President ED Mnangagwa has instructed the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to permit Money Transfer Agencies (MTA) to operate during the ongoing lockdown.

This has been done to allow the flow of remittances from the diaspora which a good number of people in Zimbabwe rely on for their livelihood.

The permission comes with some provisions. The RBZ said MTAs that operate in retail areas are allowed to operate daily “within the timelines prescribed for operating of retail outlets or shops”.

MTA’s that are operated by the banks are allowed to open just for 3 days a week between Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am and 3 pm. Read the full statement by RBZ below.
