Good initiative, all banks should follow suit
At the moment, most banks only allow existing customers to open additional types of accounts. But if you are not an existing, customer you have to visit a bank’s branch to be able to open an account with the exception of Nostro FCA for civil servants.
At a time when social distancing is of the essence, it makes sense for banks to start allowing prospective customers to open bank accounts online. We hope Nebank’s initiative will pave the way for other banks to follow suit.
Besides paving way for the opening of a bank accounts online, Nedbank also paved way for banks to start allowing customers to withdraw US dollars on ATMs.
