FBC is on a sweet roll. Barely two weeks after making it possible for civil servants to open convert US dollars in their Nostro accounts via their USSD, the bank has unveiled a feature that enables customers to open any kind of bank account from their phones.
That’s it, you no longer have to visit any FBC branch to open a account. Its all done from your phone in less than 5 minutes at most. How about that? It’s a much needed convenience during a time when moving around is not encouraged in order to stop the spread of Covid-19.
You can open a FBC bank account either on the bank’s USSD platform (*220#) or its mobile app which is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
What kind of FBC account can you open from the phone?
Unlike some bbanks that allow people to open Lite accounts only, FBC has bettered them by allowing people to open any kind of account on their phones. Indeed, customers can now open FBC’s Lite accounts,Current accounts, Savings accounts and also Foreign Currency Accounts (FCA) in just a few minutes on their phone.
However, you can open a Lite account only via the USSD. But if you want to open other accounts like the FCA then you have use FBC’s mobile app. After testing the feature, we can assure you that the process of opening an account either via USSD or the mobile app is simple, quick and straightforward.
How to open an FBC Lite account via USSD
- Dial *220#
- Choose “Apply for an Account”.
- Follow the prompts as you fill out your details.
- Confirm that you want to open an account by entering “1”.
- If you have successfully fill out your details, in less than 5 minutes you will receive a message with your account number.
