Anti-corruption body, ZACC asks citizens to report friends who become “rich overnight”

ZACC has gained another reason not to be liked by the average citizen. The corruption watchdog is asking citizens to report other citizens who would have suddenly become rich. ZACC says an overnight growth of riches is a sign of corruption which citizens have to report.

In a country where many people are now earning income from informal business deals, a significant number of people could be found wanting if fellow citizens report them to ZACC.

But the fact that most average citizens are earning additional income through these ‘side hustles’ makes it hard for many people to report fellow citizens to ZACC.

Besides, ZACC’s zeal to stamp out corruption seems biased because they are coming after the average citizen before they haven’t even investigated government officials and politicians to explain their sources of income.
